Community Development

Community Development staff of the Department of Planning and Development administer a broad range of programs funded by the Federal government. These grant programs include:

  • Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) 
    The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program is offered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and provides communities with resources to address a wide range of unique community development needs.
  • HOME Program
    Congress established the HOME Investment Partnership program to address housing concerns of low-and moderate-income households.
  • LeadSafe
    The City of Cleveland Heights is a partner in the Lead Safe Cuyahoga program.
  • Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP)
    Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP 1) funds were received through the State of Ohio Department of Development and are being used to demolish blighted residential structures.

Community Development staff is responsible for involving residents in planning efforts related to the proposed use of CDBG funds and for meeting performance standards required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
