NEW FIVE CITY JOINT DISPATCH CENTER SET TO OPEN NOVEMBER 1, 2017
CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH, 10/17/2017 - Dedicated today and opening November 1, 2017, the Heights-Hillcrest Communications Center (HHCC) brings five cities together to provide public safety dispatch services to the residents of each city. Cleveland Heights, Richmond Heights, Shaker Heights, South Euclid and University Heights joined together to design and develop the new regional dispatch center. The HHCC, located in the MetroHealth Building in Cleveland Heights, will serve as a regional dispatch center for both police and fire departments.
The Dispatch Center, funded by a $1 million grant from Cuyahoga County, benefits the five cities by offering state-of-the-art technology, additional dispatch staffing during peak hours and during major incidents, continuous training for dispatch personnel, and better collaboration for police, fire and EMS. An even better level of service is expected from the HHCC, including built in redundancy with Chagrin Valley Dispatch to ensure no downtime is experienced.
Today, the Mayors from the five cities were joined by Armond Budish, Cuyahoga County Executive, Anthony Hariston and Sunny Simon, Cuyahoga County Council Representatives, Tanisha Briley, City Manager, Cleveland Heights/Chair HHCC Board, Kevin Nietert, South Euclid Police Chief/Chair of Transition Committee, Patrick Sweeney, Shaker Heights Fire Chief/President of Cuyahoga County Fire Chiefs, and Frank Bova, MetroHealth Director and Chief of Public Safety to officially cut the ribbon and dedicate the new facility
