“Following the atrocities it committed and continues to commit against civilians and children in Israel, the terrorist group Hamas has announced that today, Friday, October 13, is a “day of rage” or a “day of jihad” against Jews and Americans.
Cleveland Heights Jewish residents and institutions are an integral part of our community. Their safety—and that of all our residents—is paramount.
The Cleveland Heights Police Department provided additional police support at the rally in support of Israel in Beachwood on Monday and has strategically deployed resources since the beginning of the week to provide special attention to Cleveland Heights’ Jewish neighborhoods, schools, and Synagogues. These resources will remain in place for the foreseeable future.
Cleveland Heights Police Chief Chris Britton has been and will remain in close communication with our local, state, and federal information resources. As of now, the City has not been notified of or received any specific threats.
Nonetheless, we stand ready to respond quickly to any credible evidence of an increased threat to our Jewish families, visitors, and congregations. During these tense times, we encourage all residents and visitors to be extra vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the Cleveland Heights Police Department.”
